The wedding of Lia and Hawali is one of the weddings that, in our opinion, is very rich with Betawi culture. This is in line with the origin and ancestors of Haji Lulung, Hawali's father, who is known as "Anak Betawi Asli."
The series of wedding ceremonies began with the Palang Pintu tradition, which combines martial arts with the art of Pantun (traditional poetic verses).
The Palang Pintu tradition itself signifies a symbolic test that the groom must pass to open the door of approval from the bride's family.
The Palang Pintu tradition is one of the traditions that forms the identity of Betawi community in Jakarta. This tradition has become part of the Betawi traditional wedding ceremony since ancient times. The combination of martial arts and the humorous art of Pantun has become a dominant feature in the Palang Pintu tradition.
After the lively and humorous yet meaningful Palang Pintu tradition, the event continued with the solemn and heartfelt ijab qobul and ‘nasihat perkawinan”. The wedding ceremony concluded with "Sungkeman” ceremony to the parents.
The reception then began with “iring-iringan pengantin”, followed by Tari Topeng Betawi. For the reception attire, Lia and Hawali wore traditional Betawi clothing in electric blue. As for the decorations, they chose a sweet yet elegant and luxurious combination of blue and white.
It was a valuable and enjoyable experience for us to document Lia and Hawali's wedding ceremony.
Congratulations on your beautiful wedding! May your journey together be filled with love, joy, and endless happiness.
Love,
